Biographical Information[edit]

Elian Rayo has played in the minors and for the Nicaraguan national team.

He was signed by San Francisco Giants scout Sandy Moreno in July 2019 [1]; due to the 2020 cancellation of the minors due to COVID-19, he made his pro debut in 2021. He hit .244/.387/.365 for the AZL Giants Black, fielding .927 at third base. He had a solid winter for the Indios del Bóer at .364/.429/.546. Returning to the AZL Giants Black in 2022, he batted .238/.359/.419 with 67 K in 160 AB. His fielding fell to .897. He tied for 6th in the Arizona Complex League in whiffs. With Tren del Norte in the winter, he slumped to .167/.367/.306.

In his third season with the AZL Giants Black, he produced at a .238/.397/.463 clip with 37 runs, 12 doubles, 7 homers and 34 walks in 49 games. He fielded much better, .989 at the hot corner this time. He tied for 5th in the ACL in dingers and tied for 10th in walks. With the '24 San Jose Giants, he debuted in a full-season league, hitting .243/.328/.356. He then played for Nicaragua in the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (held in early 2025). He was 0-for-10 with a walk and five strikeouts as their starter at third base, but they won a spot in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. [2]
