Biographical Information[edit]
Eiichiro Yamamoto was an umpire in amateur baseball starting in 1951 and a television commentator since 1952.
In 1964, he became the director of the Baseball Federation of Japan. In 1997, he was named as the Federation's president and later became president of the Baseball Federation of Asia.
Yamamoto was instrumental in getting baseball into the Olympics.
Yamamoto was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
