Biographical Information[edit]
Elisha "Effie" Norton pitched for the 1896-97 Washington Senators, posting a record of 5-2.
He was considered the star of the 1895 Ohio State University baseball team. [1] He was the second major leaguer to come out of Ohio State.
Norton also played for Atlanta in 1895-96.
Great grandfather-in-law of John Fulgham.
After his death, he was buried at Conneaut City Cemetery in Conneaut, OH.
"E. S. Norton, the Senators' new pitcher, is an electrician and mechanical engineer by profession, and has obtained a patent on a burglar alarm device to be used on cars carrying valuable freight. It is designed for the purpose of preventing the robbery of freight cars, an evil that costs railroads thousands of dollars." - Sporting Life, August 8, 1896
