Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Edwin Bucynski played in the St. Louis Browns system from 1946 to 1949. He also played professionally in 1952. He began his career with a .296/.334/.416 slash line with 4 home runs, 50 RBI and 86 hits in 84 games for the Newark Moundsmen in 1946, but slipped to .264 the next year. He was very consistent from 1947 to 1949, never hitting better than .276, but no worse than .264; he had between 3 and 10 home runs, 107 and 136 hits, 61 and 81 RBI, 3 and 8 stolen bases, 3 and 7 triples, 16 and 20 doubles and 67 and 71 runs scored each year. His on-base percentage never fell below .312 or rose above .337. After missing 1950 and 1951, he returned in 1952 to hit .298 with 10 home runs in 507 at-bats between three Texas clubs. Overall, he hit .279 with 35 home runs and 605 hits in 571 games over 5 seasons.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His brother, Lawrence Bucynski, also played minor league baseball.
