Edilse Silva played for the Santiago de Cuba Wasps. In 2007-2008, his 5th season, the outfielder hit .275/.339/.412. He had hit .272 and slugged .462 in his career to that point. He then moved to the Perros de Holguín in an unusual franchise shift for a Cuban player. He hit .349/.390/.583 in 2008-2009, joining Leris Aguilera in leading the Perros attack. Silva tied Yuniet Flores for 6th in the Cuban Serie Nacional with 6 triples and was 8th with 62 strikeouts.
