Biographical Information[edit]
Edgard Montiel has played in the minors and for the Nicaraguan national team.
Montiel hit .212/.299/.240 for the 2006 VSL Cardinals, playing primarily third base and catcher. With the 2007 DSL Cardinals, he batted .244/.371/.315 and alternated between 1B (.990 in 28 G), 3B (.929 in 16 G) and C (.971 in 12 G; Opp SB. 32%). He was the starting third baseman for Nicaragua in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup, hitting .368/.429/.421 and playing error-free defense. In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, the Managua native split second base with Ronald Garth and Ofilio Castro and 3B with Darrel Campbell. He was 3 for 19 with two walks, a double and two runs, while making two errors in 16 chances.
