Biographical Information

Eddie Yount played a couple seasons in the major leagues. He came out of Wake Forest University, where he had been in 1936 along with some other future major leaguers including Morrie Aderholt.

He played for the Williamsport Grays in 1937.

He managed the Newton-Conover Twins from 1948 through 1951 and was the second of three managers for the Hickory Rebels in 1952.

He is one of four major leaguers with the last name "Yount".

Buz Phillips is the only other major leaguer born in Newton, NC.
