Biographical Information[edit]
Ed Goodson played 8 seasons in the big leagues, splitting his time between first base and third base. His best year was 1973, when he hit .302 with 12 home runs for the San Francisco Giants, a team on which a young Dave Kingman also got into 60 games at third base. Goodson's last major league appearance came in the 1977 World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The similarity scores method sees the most similar player (through 2006) as Coaker Triplett, a player from an entirely different era.
In 2003, Ed was honored by the state legislature in Virginia for his contributions [1]. Among other things, the resolution says that he was an All-American in college, that his career was cut short by injury, and that he was baseball coach at Grayson County High School for over 12 years.
