Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Cotter played the infield in 17 games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1926, debuting on June 12. Cotter hit better than the team's regular third baseman in 1926, Clarence Huber, albeit in 101 fewer games (.308/.333/.385 line in 26 at bats). Defensively, the struggle was real, as Cotter made six errors (split between third base and shortstop). Ed is one of five major leaguers (through 2019) with the last name Cotter. He attended Villanova from 1923-1926 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
