Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Ed Clarke is only credited with one season in Organized Baseball, in 1909 with the Bloomington Bloomers of the Three-I League. He went 10-12, 2.84 that season and would otherwise be completely forgotten were it not for the game of May 30th against the Decatur Commodores. That day, in the first game of a Memorial Day doubleheader he pitched 26 innings but was charged with a 2-1 loss, with his opponent, Otto Burns, who was making his professional pitching debut that day, also going all the way for Decatur. The game was the longest professional game played to that time, and would not be topped until 1960. The second scheduled game was not played, due to darkness.
His last name is spelled "Clark" in certain sources.
