Biographical Information[edit]
Ed Beatin won 20 games for the 1889 and 1890 Cleveland Spiders when he was 22 and 23 years old. He also drove in a notable 21 runs on the 1890 team, in spite of hitting only .141, partly because he had 8 extra-base hits. The team leader in RBI, 19-year-old future Hall of Famer George Davis, drove in 73 runs but needed 526 at bats and a much higher batting average to do so, while Beatin had only 191 at-bats.
