East Chicago Conquistadors

The only professional baseball team from East Chicago, IN played in the only season of the Mid-America League in 1995. The team was last in record (23-35) and attendance (5,444) under manager Ron D'Auteuil. The club did have two All-Stars in 1B Larry Hisle Jr. (second in the league at .375) and OF Darrio Green (.330, 24 SB). They played their home games at E. J. Block Athletic Field. The team name was chosen in hopes of appealing to East Chicago's large Mexican-American population.
