Earl Tyree caught one game in the majors.
Ripon Magazine in the Fall of 2009 had an article about Earl's son Bill Tyree, who was a theologian and philosopher. Bill taught at Ripon for years. The article states that Earl developed a sore throwing arm which caused him to leave baseball and enter the clothing store business. Bill was born in Rushville, IL after his mother and father moved from Champaign, IL.
Earl played for Champaign in 1913 as well as a number of other minor league teams. In 1914, the year he appeared with the 1914 Cubs, he played for Atlanta most of the season.
