Biographical Information[edit]

Earl Huckleberry started one game for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1935 and received credit for the victory.

He lived in Seminole County all his life and was with Rudmon Oil when he retired.

Huckleberry pitched for many years in semi-pro ball in Oklahoma, and was discovered in 1935 by an Athletics scout who attended a semi-pro game. Known as a fastballer, he was given one outing against the Chicago White Sox on September 13th, and gave up 8 hits with 4 walks in 6 2/3 innings. He did, however, get the win. There were promises that Earl would get a second chance to pitch, but it never happened. He returned to Oklahoma, pitched semi-pro ball for more years, and lived his entire life in the state, dying in 1999. Source: Straight to the Majors and Back.
