Earl Caldwell Jr. played two years in the minor leagues.
The son of Earl Caldwell, Earl Jr. broke in as a player on a club managed by his father, the 1953 Lafayette Bulls. Earl caught for his father, the team's ace pitcher, though his father hit for a higher average. Junior batted .231/~.365/.346 in 39 games, showing a good walk rate. He fielded .938 in 21 games behind the plate. In 1954, he hit .318 with 11 HR and 62 RBI for the Odessa Oilers. He and his father both wound up their playing careers the same year.
