Biographical Information[edit]
Harry "Dutch" Schirick's only appearance in the major leagues was as a pinch hitter for the St. Louis Browns on September 17, 1914. He walked and stole two bases.
His obituary in The Sporting News one November 30, 1968,, states that he left baseball in 1915 to become a lawyer. Subsequently Schirick was appointed in 1936 as a justice of the New York State Supreme Court where he served until his retirement in 1960. To be clear, in New York, the state Supreme Court is the lowest-level trial jurisdiction, and not the state's equivalent of the U.S. Supreme Court (which is called the "Court of Appeals").
