Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dustin Kellogg was selected by the Houston Astros in the 34th round of the 2011 amateur draft after going 2-3 with a 3.10 ERA in his final year at Caney Creek High School. He initially signed to play with Navarro College following his high school career, however he opted to play professionally instead. Throwing a fastball in the high-80s to low-90s, he made his pro debut on July 30th with the GCL Astros, pitching a scoreless inning of relief against the GCL Marlins. Overall, in 6 outings with the club, he went 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA while striking out 9. Shortly after his rookie season, he was killed in a car accident when his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer. He was 18 years old.
