Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Drew Romo was drafted in Competitive Balance Round A in the 2020 amateur draft, by the Colorado Rockies with the 35th overall pick. He was coming out of a high school in Texas and had hit .250/.417/.321 for the US when they finished second in the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup; he tied for 6th with six walks.

He began his professional career in 2021, when the minor leagues resumed play after being shut down by COVID-19 in 2020. Assigned to the Fresno Grizzlies of Low-A West, he hit .314/.345/.439 in 79 games, with 17 doubles and 23 stolen bases. He was named a postseason All-Star in the circuit, and a Rockies organizational All-Star. In 2022, he moved up to the Spokane Indians of the Northwestern League, when he hit .254/.321/.372 in 102 games.
