Biographical Information[edit]
Douglas Solís pitched for the Nicaraguan national team.
He debuted in Nicaragua's amateur circuit in 2009, going 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA. In 2010, he had a 4-3, 4.42 record followed by 1-2 between three teams in '11. The next summer, he was 10-8 with a 1.62 ERA and nearly a K per inning. He did not lead in ERA as Alvaro López was at 1.34. He then gave up two runs in 1 2/3 IP in the winter league in Nicaragua.
In 2013, he was 7-6 with two saves and a 2.26 ERA. He was 1-1 with a 3.45 ERA for the 2013-2014 Gigantes de Rivas; a LOOGY, he totaled 15 2/3 IP in 24 games. He was named MVP of the Liga Nicaragüense de Béisbol Profesional finals that year. In the summer, he was 7-4 with five saves and a 2.56 ERA.
He was on the Nicaraguan team that won Silver in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games; in two outings, the LOOGY retired two and allowed a hit, walk and a run for the team's highest ERA. In the LNBP, he was 1-2 with two saves and a 2.22 ERA. He remained strong in the summers (4-3, Sv, 2.37). In the 2015 Pan American Games, he allowed four hits, two runs and three runs (all earned) in 2 1/3 innings over three games but fanned five. He tied for the team lead in appearances and saved Berman Espinoza's win over Colombia.
Douglas had a 0.84 ERA and no decisions in the winter of 2015-2016 and was 1-0 with a save and a 3.11 ERA in the summer of 2016, apparently ending his career.
