Biographical Information[edit]

Douglas Assada pitched for the Brazilian national team in the 1999 Pan American Games and 2002 Intercontinental Cup. In the latter event, he was 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA; in 4 2/3 IP, he allowed six hits and fanned six while walking none. While his ERA was only 4th of Brazil's 9 hurlers, he got their lone win in five games, working 3 1/3 shutout innings against Mexico while Daniel Matsumoto provided the key hit in the 8th as Brazil rallied for a 7-6 win. Assada also led Brazil with three games pitched in the Cup.
