Biographical Information[edit]

Doug Pappas was an attorney, baseball writer and reseacher from Hartsdale, NY. He was the founder and longtime chairman of the Business of Baseball Committee for the Society for American Baseball Research and legal counsel to SABR. Pappas devoted years to compiling an Ejections database and had amassed over 11,200 records at the time of his tragic death. Doug also documented volumes of broadcasting history and salary data and was regarded by the online community as an expert on franchise value, competitive balance and labor matters. Pappas passed away of heat exhaustion in 2004 while hiking in Big Bend National Park. He was 42.
