Doug Jones (college)

Doug Jones was a college coach.

A middle infielder in college, Jones scored eight runs in a game in 1991 to set a Conference record (since broken). He was assistant coach at his alma mater from 1994-1997. In 1998, he became head coach of Tusculum College. He set a school record for wins at 34-21 in 2003 and took the team to its first NCAA Tournament. Two years later, he shattered the win record by going 44-17. Then, in 2007, the school was 50-14 and finished 10th in NCAA Division II. He was 705-412-1 through 2018 then stepped down as head coach to serve full-time as Tusculum's Vice President of Athletics & University Initiatives (he had held both roles from 2015-2018).
