Biographical Information[edit]

Dong-soo Choi has played over a decade in the Korea Baseball Organization, all with the LG Twins (through 2009).

Choi debuted with LG in 1994, going 0 for 1. In 1996, he hit .200/~.253/.329 in 85 at-bats over 51 games for the Twins. In '97, he batted .223/~.315/.491 with 7 homers in 112 AB. In 1998, he was 9 for 57 with a double and two walks. He saw even less action in '99, going 5 for 23 with two doubles and two walks. This valley of his career came in his age-27 season, when most players are peaking.

In 2000, Dong-soo went 11 for 43 with a double, triple, 2 homers and 3 walks. The next year, he played 94 games and hit .293/~.385/.476. Choi's line in 2002 was .243/~.310/.336; at age 30, it was his first time to appear in 100 games. During 2003, Choi hit .259/~.335/.340. The '04 campaign saw him crack 15 homers and bat .257/~.303/.433 for LG.

Choi kept on improving with age; at age 33 in 2005, he hit .319/~.370/.486 in 210 AB. In 2006, he slumped to .190/~.250/.240 in 100 AB. It was a temporary setback; at age 35 in 2007, Choi's batting line was .306/.378/.443; he set new personal highs in at-bats (431) and games (125). He was 10th in the league in average and OBP.

Dong-soo produced at a .265/.331/.415 rate for the 2008 Twins with 14 homers and a career-high 62 RBI at age 36. Through 63 games in 2009, Choi is hitting .303/.368/.452. At that point, Choi's career line is .267/~.334/.408.
