Biographical Information[edit]
Donell Linares is a minor leaguer.
Linares played one season in the Cuban Serie Nacional, going 9 for 47 with 4 doubles and 6 walks. He then defected and spent several years trying to attain citizenship and a spot with a US organization. He signed with the Atlanta Braves in June 2008, over 3 years since his last game.
He debuted in the minor leagues at age 24, hitting .266/.371/.418 in 21 games for the DSL Braves as one of the league's older performers. He began the 2009 season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and was batting .229/.273/.386 after 22 contests.
