Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Donald Young was taken 18th overall in the 1975 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves one pick after pitcher Jim Gideon.

He hit .247/.340/.403 with four home runs and 31 RBI in 53 games for the Kingsport Braves in 1975 and in 1976, he hit .231/.306/.326 with nine home runs, 55 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 130 games for the Greenwood Braves. He returned to Greenwood for 1977 and hit .199/.298/.257 with three home runs and 40 RBI in 119 games. Overall, he batted .224/.310/.319 with 16 home runs and 126 RBI in three seasons.
