Biographical Information[edit]
Minor leaguer Donald Mason played for the Oroville Red Sox (1948), El Paso Texans (1949-1950) and Austin Pioneers (1951-1955). He never played in less than 105 games or had less than 117 hits in a season. Despite spending time at multiple positions, the outfield was his primary location.
He batted .300 three times. He first reached the mark in 1949, batting .316/.369/.412 with 164 hits, 29 doubles and 96 runs scored in 127 games. 1950 was his best campaign, as he batted .334 with 221 hits, 169 RBI, 35 doubles and 17 triples in 150 games; he tied Dominic Cannuli and Nick Sunseri for the Arizona-Texas League lead in games, with Dick Zwainz for the lead in hits and Len Noren for the lead in RBI. He led the league outright in at-bats (661). His last .300 campaign was 1954, when he hit .329/.382/.430 with 147 hits in 117 games.
Overall, Mason batted .301 with 1,216 hits in 1,003 games over 8 seasons.
