Biographical information

Third baseman/outfielder Don Denbow was a first-round draft pick who spent four seasons in the minor leagues, never reaching above the A-level. His son Don Denbow played in the minors as well.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the last pick in the first round, 20th overall, of the 1967 amateur draft. He was taken right after Bobby Grich. Denbow made his pro debut that summer, playing for the Ogden Dodgers (.237/.314/.381, 30 RBI in 31 G) and the Santa Barbara Dodgers (.232/.310/.283 in 30 G). In 1968, he batted .258/.298/.329 for the Bakersfield Dodgers, with just 9 walks in 66 games. He fielded .914 as Bakersfield's main third baseman. Back with Bakersfield in 1969, he hit .226/.318/.329 as the backup to Ron Cey. He was 1 for 1 for the 1970 Daytona Beach Dodgers to end his career.

Overall, he hit .242 with 10 home runs in 177 games.

After baseball, he was a teacher, coach (baseball and football) and principal at Corsicana High School. From 2004-2010, he was superintendent of the Corsicana Independent School District. After retiring from education, he ran for the Corsicana City Council.
