Biographical Information[edit]
One of the biggest stars of pro bowling, Don Carter also played one season of minor league ball in the Philadelphia Athletics chain.
Following high school, Carter served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he was an infielder/pitcher for the Red Springs Red Robins in the Tobacco State League in 1947. That summer, he hit .302 in 38 games and went 3-7 with a 4.18 ERA in 15 appearances on the mound.
After one season of pro baseball, Carter returned to his hometown of St. Louis. He went on to become a founding member of the Professional Bowlers Association and one of its biggest stars during the 1950s. He was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 1975.
