Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Don Berti was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 11th round of the 1981 amateur draft and played in their system until 1984. In his first professional season, 1981, he hit .325/.408/.397 in 43 games for the GCL Astros Orange; the next year he slugged 12 home runs with 50 RBI in 88 games between two clubs. Even in his final season, he batted .289 in 61 games. Overall, Berti batted .281/.392/.419 with 20 homers, 117 RBI and 133 walks (to just 103 strikeouts) in 260 games.
