Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Dom DeSantis played in the minor leagues from 1991 to 1994.
He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1989 and the Baltimore Orioles in 1990, but didn't sign until the Philadelphia Phillies took him in the 20th round of the 1991 amateur draft.
Older than the average player in the leagues he played, he dominated the competition his first campaign, posting a 1.98 ERA in 15 starts for the Spartanburg Phillies and Martinsville Phillies in 1991. In 1992, he had a 2.71 mark in 133 innings for Spartanburg, allowing just 123 hits and 29 walks, while completing four games. Over the next three years, the last spent in the independent ranks, his ERA rose from 3.45 to 4.57 to 5.86 and his career was over.
Overall, he went 19-28 with a 3.23 ERA in 135 games (37 starts).
