Biographical Information[edit]
Dirk Hayhurst has written three books about baseball, the first two of which were published while still an active player. For 2012, he signed with Nettuno in the Italian Baseball League. He left the team in training camp to return to the US as a commentator. He then worked as a commentator on Toronto Blue Jays broadcasts.
Dirk is the author of The Bullpen Gospels (2010), which stemmed from his blog "Non-Prospect Diary", hosted on Baseball America's website. He published a second book, Out of My League, in 2012, about his experience in finally becoming a major league player. His third book, Bigger Than The Game, (2014) recounts his transition to post-baseball life. He has also written commentary on issues affecting the game, such as the epidemic of Tommy John surgeries.
