Biographical Information[edit]
Dion Desaunois was on the only South African national team to play in an Intercontinental Cup, the 1995 Intercontinental Cup. His first game, he pinch-hit for Peter Couvaras late in a loss to Japan and doubled off Kan Koshio for their best hit of the day; their only other hit was a single by Jason Cook. He was 0 for 5 the rest of the tournament. He handled seven chances error-free as Couvaras's backup at second base. [1] He had previously been with South Africa on a 1986 tour of Taiwan. [2] He later coached youth baseball in South Africa. [3] One of their products, Callan Pearce, signed with the Minnesota Twins. [4] He was president of KZN Baseball Association from 2007-2013 and had his number 2 retired. [5]
