Biographical Information[edit]

Dick Lines had two seasons in the majors, pitching for the Washington Senators, and was heavily used by manager Gil Hodges in both of them. In 1966 he appeared in 53 games while in 1967 he was in 54 games. His 2.28 ERA in 1966 was far below the league ERA that year of 3.44.

Lines had been signed as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1957, and spent 1957 to 1965 in the minors, mostly as a starter. He went 12-5 for the Clinton Pirates in 1957, 10-6 for the Lincoln Chiefs in 1958, and 14-6 for the Asheville Tourists in 1962. He became primarily a reliever in 1964. His last year in the minors was 1969.
