Biographical Information[edit]
Dick Clegg was a replacement umpire in the American League during the umpires' strike in 1979, working a total of 20 games.
He was an amateur umpire around Boston, MA, starting in 1967 and umpiring high school and college games in addition to games in the Boston Parks League. In 1985, he was named the Boston Parks League umpire in chief and held the position for 14 years. In 1998, he was named umpire in chief of the Cape Cod League, but he passed away a year later.
