Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Derek Stingley was drafted in the 26th round of the 1993 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played in their system until 1995, hitting .219 with 55 stolen bases in 169 games.

He later played professional football in the Arena Football League from 1996 to 2004. He was on the National Football League's New York Jets' roster for a spell in 1999, but he did not appear in a game with the team. He has since become a coach in the Arena Football League.

His father, Darryl Stingley, played in the NFL from 1973 to 1977. His son, Derek Stingley, Jr., was the third overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
