Biographical Information

Pitcher Derek Griffith was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 17th round of the 2003 amateur draft, two picks ahead of catcher Luke Montz. He played in their system from 2004 to 2007, also spending part of his last campaign in the independent leagues. Overall, he went 21-35 with a 4.63 ERA in 80 games (75 starts).

He was signed by scout Mike Stauffer.
