Denver Mountaineers

In 1887 the Denver Mountain Lions were renamed the Denver Mountaineers. They went 51-49 that year, third in the Western League. The next year they were 18-6 and in first place when the league dissolved on June 21.

The name was revived by the Denver entry in the 1891 Western Association. The team went 53-63 to finish fourth.
