Biographical Information[edit]

Dennis Sherrill was a first-round pick out of high school by the New York Yankees in the 1974 amateur draft who came to the majors for a couple of brief cups of coffee in 1978 and 1980. Drafted as a shortstop, he was not much of a minor league hitter from 1974-1980, with his best season by far in 1978 when he hit .292 with 14 home runs in Double A ball.

The New York Yankees won 100+ games during each of the years when Sherrill came up. Bucky Dent was the regular shortstop at the time.
