Biographical Information[edit]
Dennis Duncan, also known as Robert Duncan, was a long-time minor league umpire. He started out in the Western Carolinas League in 1979, moved to the Carolina League in 1980 and the Eastern League in 1981 and 1982. In 1983 and 1984, he was in the International League, then he moved over to the Pacific Coast League in 1985.
He had been out of organized baseball for a while when he was hired as a replacement umpire in the American League when the regular umpires went on strike at the start of the 1995 season. He also worked on Opening Day in the National League in 1998, working the start of the contest until the regular umpires showed up in the 4th inning.
