Biographical Information[edit]
Dennis Coughlin is the only major leaguer who was wounded in combat in the Civil War, a sergeant in the 104th New York State Infantry Company. He played 8 games with the Washington Nationals in 1872, hitting .297. After his time in baseball, he worked in the U.S. Treasury Department for 45 years.
