Dehler Park
Dehler Park in Billings, MT, was the home of Billings affiliated baseball from 2008 through 2019. After that and the Coronavirus pandemic-canceled 2020 season, MLB's 2021 Minor League Reorganization made the Rookie-Advanced Pioneer League- including the Billings Mustangs - an independent circuit.
Ironically, during that transition, the ballpark gained national exposure by "starring" in a GEICO commercial.
The Mustangs actually played on the same land since moving into 21-year-old Cobb Field in 1969. In 2006, after more than five decades of baseball at Cobb, Billings voters passed a bond issue to replace it. The $12.5 million ballpark went from idea to reality, including demolishing Cobb, entirely between the walk-off single that ended the 2007 season and the first pitch of the 2008 campaign.
Fleetwood Gaming owner Jon Dehler bought naming rights to honor his father, Fleetwood founder Billy Joe Dehler. A grass berm and an outdoor suite - the 329 Club - augment the listed capacity, 2,571 individual stadium seats plus bleachers that seat 500. The playing field is eight feet below street level, its concourse encircling it above the seating bowl. This rare configuration provides clean sightlines even on concession runs but creates drainage challenges.
The Mustangs had been affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds since 1974 - until the reorganization, tied for the second-longest affiliation among separately owned teams.
