Biographical Information[edit]
Dean Ehlers was a minor league player and a college coach.
After high school, Ehlers played in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. He missed two seasons when he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also played college basketball for Central Methodist College.
After a stint as a high school teacher and coach, he took over the head baseball coach position at Memphis State University in 1958. He coached for four seasons before leaving Memphis State to become James Madison University's Athletic Director and head basketball coach.
