Edward "Deacon" Van Buren was in the majors for 13 games in 1904. His minor league career was 18 years, most of it spent with teams on the west coast.
His best batting average was .319 with Portland in 1903, and then years later he hit .313 with Sacramento in 1912.
The book Sacramento's Land Park has a baseball card of Van Buren that was part of the "Home Run Kisses" set (named after a kind of candy).
