David Wennerlund has played in the Elitserien. In 2004, he hit .202/.368/.292 for Tranas with 33 strikeouts in 89 AB. He also struggled on the mound (0-5, 9.40, 52 BB in 45 IP) and in the field (.818 fielding percentage at third base). In 2005, he hit .235/.341/.352 for Tranas and went 0-2 with a 7.16 record. He fielded .875 at shortstop.

In 2006, Wennerlund moved to the outfield and batted .274/.426/.370 with 37 runs. He produced at a .274/.387/.335 batting line for 2007. In 2008, he surged forward to hit .360/.467/.486 with 38 runs.

Wennerlund was on Sweden's preliminary 40-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
