Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dave Sinnes was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 19th round of the 1993 amateur draft out of the University of Notre Dame, where he had gone 10-3, 2.98 as a senior and 8-1, 2.31 the year before. He began his professional career that same year, appearing with both the GCL Blue Jays and the Medicine Hat Blue Jays of the Pioneer League. His combined record was 4-4, 1.81 in 25 games, also picking up 4 saves. In 1994, he had another good season, this one with the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League, when he maintained an ERA of just 1.92 in 55 games, saved 37 games to go with a 2-3 record. He allowed just 50 hits in 61 innings, struck out 52 batters and walked 16.

Having now worked his way into the prospect ranks, he was involved in a major trade on April 6, 1995, right after the settlement of the 1994 strike. He was sent to the Kansas City Royals with Chris Stynes and Tony Medrano in return for ace P David Cone, who was coming off winning the Cy Young Award. He was sent to the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League and was having a good season, going 0-2 with 3 saves and an ERA of 3.04 in 18 games when an arm injury ended his season. Unfortunately, he was never able to come back and his career ended after three seasons.
