Biographical Information[edit]

David Kaye was a college pitcher.

Kaye went 24-8 in high school and hit over .500 as a sophomore and junior before falling to .409 as a senior. His senior year, he was 7-1 with a 0.95 ERA an 123 strikeouts. He fanned 374 batters in high school and made the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League's top 3 in strikeouts his last 3 years. In 2007, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette named im the PG East Player of the Year. The Toronto Blue Jays took him in the 30th round of the 2007 amateur draft but he opted for college.

As a freshman in 2008, Kaye was 2-4 with a save and a 2.52 ERA in a team-high 23 appearances. He led Pitt in ERA and held opponents to a .227 average. In 2009, the sophomore right-hander fell to 3-4, 5.74 with a .314 opponent average. He was redshirted in 2010. He was 0-1 the next year, allowing six runs in four innings.
