Biographical Information[edit]
Davey Claire played three games for the Detroit Tigers in 1920. He was the younger brother of Danny Claire, also a ballplayer, and his playing statistics were long credited to Danny, but the two were different persons. Danny was born April 16, 1885 in Ludington, Michigan and died March 23, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan. The following was taken from a newspaper article: "Danny Claire's Widow to Marry in New York," it says, "Danny Claire, for years well known as a baseball umpire in Battle Creek, burned to death in an accident here in 1930." Danny's widow, Ethel, said that he was a "pro baseball player".
