Biographical Information

Dave Gumpert was also a "replacement" player during one of the strikes, although he did not appear in a regular season game after 1987.

Elbow trouble and the resultant effect on his slider ended the effectiveness with which he had begun his career with the Detroit Tigers.

He pitched for the Aquinas College Tommies, in Grand Rapids, MI, along with long-time major league reliever Paul Assenmacher.

After baseball, Gumpert returned to South Haven High as Athletics Director.
