Dave Dawson has been a college coach.

Dawson was assistant coach at Ottawa University in 1997; he had been a catcher there and set the school walk record with 72 for his career. He then was head coach at Higbee High School in 1997 and at Piper High School from 1998-2003. Dave was assistant coach at the University of Saint Mary in 2004-2005 while earning his master's degree. He was head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University from 2006-2009, going 115-94. He then moved to the head coaching job at Arkansas Tech University.
