Darrin Ward
Darrin Ward had 32 RBI for the 1996 London Warriors to lead Britain's Premier Division South; his 74 2/3 IP for the Herts Falcons led the league in 2009. [1] He was 36-30 with a save and a 5.70 ERA in 13 seasons for which data is available; he hit .341/.447/.503 over 15 seasons. [2] He tied for the league lead in wins in '09 though his team finished only .500; his brother Dave Ward was managing at that time. [3] He also pitched for the British national team. In the 1996 B-Level European Championship, he beat Lithuania and saved a win over Croatia, working three hitless, scoreless frames; that earned him the nickname "The Iceman". That won Britain a spot in the next European Championship. [4] He was 0 for 7 in the 1997 European Championship and had a 8.18 ERA; he had a no-decision in a start against Slovenia that Britain won. [5] His last event for the national team was the 1999 European Championship, when he was 1 for 7 as a part-time first baseman. [6]
